The first case of COVID-19 in Covington County was confirmed by the Mississippi Department of Health on Friday, March 27.
The patient was tested in an outpatient setting with infection control measures in place to prevent exposure to others. The patient was sent home to self-quarantine.
Covington County Hospital implemented its previously established infection control plan when the first case of COVID-19 was reported in Mississippi.
Moving forward, Covington County Hospital asks that members of the public call their doctor or the CCH Emergency Department before their arrival, if demonstrating COVID-19 symptoms. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, coughing, sore throat and shortness of breath.
CCH Clinics are also now offering telehealth appointments for any non-urgent or routine visits. Patients are encouraged to utilize this new service by calling a clinic and requesting a telehealth appointment. A provider will call you at your appointment time on your preferred device.
