‘SURE, NO PROBLEM’ ATTITUDE MAKES WALKER EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR Covington County Hospital Dietary Manager Jessica Walker gives attitude – great attitude, every day, all day. That’s a big reason why a huge banner on the side of the hospital proclaims her Employee of the Year. “I’ve never seen anyone ask Jessica for anything that she’s not willing to jump in there and do, whether or not it’s within the normal scope of her department,” said CCH Human Resources Director Beverly Ponder. “She’s always got a smile: ‘Sure, no problem.’” Crystal Trophy CEO Gregg Gibbes announced the award during National Hospital Week in May. It came with a crystal trophy, flowers, and a cash prize. Ponder said the award is one of many ways year-round that the hospital promotes a can-do culture. “It’s just nice to be appreciated,” she said. Walker became one of the four finalists when she was chosen as a 2022 Employee of the Quarter. She and a kitchen staff of 15 prepare approximately 750 meals a week for patients, visitors, and staff, including residents at the Arrington Living Center skilled nursing facility. ‘Spectacular Cook’ Walker’s boss, Food and Nutrition Director Johnny McDonald, described her as “hardworking, dedicated, a spectacular cook.” He said she honed her “hey, let’s get this done” attitude during eight years in the U.S. Army. “She’s just an excellent leader,” he said. “I love food, and I love to make people feel good when they taste my food,” Walker said. “It’s the people that are so special here, and this is such an honor to receive this award.” Jessica Walker, Dietary Manager
