INGREDIENTS (SERVES 4) • 1 lb lean ground turkey • 1/2 cup whole wheat bread crumbs • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese • 1 large egg • 2 cloves garlic, minced • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped • 1 tsp dried oregano • 1 tsp dried basil • 1/2 tsp salt • 1/4 tsp black pepper • 8 oz whole wheat spaghetti • 2 tbsp olive oil • 1 small onion, finely chopped • 1 tbsp olive oil • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes (no added sugar) • 1 tsp dried basil • 1 tsp dried oregano • 1/2 tsp dried thyme • 1/2 tsp salt • 1/4 tsp black pepper • Pinch red pepper flakes (optional) • 1 tbsp tomato paste (optional) • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped HEART HEALTHY RECIPE WHOLESOME WHOLE WHEAT SPAGHETTI AND TURKEY MEATBALLS Enjoy a comforting and healthy meal with our Wholesome Whole Wheat Spaghetti and Turkey Meatballs recipe. INSTRUCTIONS: • Preheat oven to 375°F. • Mix turkey, bread crumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, parsley, 1 tsp oregano, 1 tsp dried basil, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp black pepper in a bowl. • Shape into meatballs and bake on a baking sheet for 20-25 minutes. • In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat, sauté onion till golden, then add garlic and cook briefly. • Stir in tomatoes, 1 tsp dried basil, 1 tsp oregano, thyme, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp black pepper, and, if using, red pepper flakes. • Simmer sauce for 15-20 minutes. Add tomato paste for thickness (optional). • Cook spaghetti according to package directions and toss with olive oil. • Plate spaghetti, add meatballs, and top with sauce.
