Dr. Jennifer Trihoulis, M.D. Charlie Crafton, DNP, PMHNP-BC Kimberly Bennett, LCSW, CDP Caregivers at Covington Place Therapy & Counseling try hard to dispel the stigma associated with mental healthcare. “The brain is just another part of our body that we need to take care of,” said Charlie “C.J.” Crafton, DNP, PMHNP-BC. “Our mind is just as important as our lungs and our heart.” Versatile Staff Crafton is a psychiatric nurse practitioner at Covington Place. The staff also includes social worker Kimberly Bennett, LCSW, CDP, and psychiatrist Dr. Jennifer Trihoulis, M.D., who is Medical Director of Outpatient Behavioral Medicine for Covington County Hospital. “This is a warm, supportive environment,” Dr. Trihoulis said. “You’re not judged.” Covington Place Therapy & Counseling provides individualized treatment for ages 6 and up. Dr. Trihoulis normally treats adults (18 or older). She is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and certified in addiction treatment. Addictions Run the Gamut Addiction can involve everything from substances (drugs, alcohol) to compulsive behaviors regarding gambling, sex, eating, etc. Covington Place has a new outpatient addiction treatment program that uses Suboxone, a drug that helps those suffering from addiction to wean themselves off opiates or opioids by managing withdrawal symptoms and reducing cravings. “With Suboxone, we can treat people in the clinic, and you would never know they were even there for addiction,” Dr. Trihoulis said. “They maintain their privacy and do not have their life disrupted to get help.” Medication Management Crafton spends most of her time helping adults with medication management for such problems as bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, and depression.
