Covington County Hospital Therapy provides a wide range of outpatient and inpatient services to help individuals improve their abilities and return to their daily life as quickly as possible. Our outpatient services cater to people of all ages and include Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapies. Patients can request appointments by having their family doctor, specialist, or pediatrician send a referral to Covington County Hospital, which helps to minimize travel and wait times.
Our outpatient appointments are available from Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and you can schedule them by calling 601-698-0298.
For inpatient rehabilitation, our program is designed to help patients recover after debilitating injuries, strokes, or major surgeries, such as cardiac, hip, knee, or joint replacements. Our skilled therapy team creates personalized plans to restore activity levels and promote independence based on the patient’s prior function and ability. The ultimate goal is to reestablish independence and support a safe transition back home.
Our Physical Therapy services include Orthopedic, Neurological, Senior Health, and Dry Needling therapies. Our Occupational Therapy services focus on Pain Management, Hand & Shoulder Rehabilitation, Activities of Daily Living, Home Modification, and Urinary Health. Our Speech Therapy services address Speech & Language, Dysphagia, Aphasia, and Stroke Rehabilitation, featuring Vital-Stim® Therapy. Our therapy team at Covington County Hospital provides exceptional patient-centered care. Led by Mike Williamson, DPT, ATC, the team comprises highly skilled professionals, including Arica Bedwell, COTA/L Director of Rehabilitation, Marlecia Grant, DPT, Joni Barnes, DPT, Nikki Page, OTD, Stephanie Stensland, SLP, Michelle Bush, PTA, and Carrie Bullock, Front Office Coordinator.
Utilizing advanced equipment, our therapists employ cutting-edge techniques to enhance patient outcomes. Game Ready, employing a cold and compression system, reduces pain and swelling, decreases opioid consumption, and promotes blood flow. E-Stim provides targeted electrical impulses to improve muscle movement and sensory stimulation for nerve regeneration. Ultrasound uses sonar pulses for deep muscle stimulation and pain management. The Paraffin Bath offers warmth therapy for hands and feet. Dry Needling targets pain management and inflammation. Vital-Stim® provides electrical stimulation for dysphagia and speech dysfunction. Additionally, bicycle exercise, elliptical workouts, and hydrotherapy with warm, moist heat packs are utilized to promote muscle use, cardiac health, and overall rehabilitation.
