Admissions Clerk - Clinic System - PRN

The Clinic Admission Clerk is responsible for answering the phones, making appointments, initial intake of patient information upon patient’ arrival, verification of insurance, and collection of appropriate fee for services received prior to patient departure.  Must be able to interact with the public in a professional manner.  Basic computer skills required.  Experience with insurance verification process preferred.

Cook - PRN

Cook prepares food for patients and employees.  Apportions servings and prepares plates on patient tray assembly.  Must maintain high standards of sanitation in food handling, preparation and the work area.  Must have knowledge of cooking characteristics and various cuts of meat and know the contents of various types of dishes.  Must be familiar with operation of kitchen equipment.  Other duties as assigned.  Experience preferred.

EMT-Basic-PRN - Ambulance

Responsible for driving the ambulance and assisting the Paramedic in providing basic life support functions. Experience preferred.  The EMT provides basic life support to patients and assists Emergency personnel after reaching the hospital.  MS State certification as EMT with EMS training equal to or exceeding national registry standards as required.  Valid MS emergency drivers license and age as required by the insurance carrier. Must have a valid CPR card.

The Medical Laboratory Technician is skilled in the disciplines of Hematology, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, serology, and blood bank in order to obtain report data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in an accurate, precise, timely and responsible manner.  They must be proficient in collecting processing specimens for laboratory instrumentation and procedures.  He/she is responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of supplies and for using those supplies prudently.  Must have current MLT/MT certificate/license.

Nurse Practitioner - ER - PRN

The Emergency Department Family Nurse Practitioner assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests. Designates emergent and non-emergent. Interprets the data, develops and implements therapeutic plans, and follows through on a plan of care.  Plans, provides, and documents plan of care and education with patient, family members, or others to attain optimal health and continuity of care.  Transfers patients appropriately to higher level of care.  Collaborates with UMMC Telemed Physicians and other health professionals as needed to provide quality health care to every patient.  ATLS, ACLS, and PALS required.

Pharmacist - PRN

The pharmacist checks and verifies physician’s drug orders and nurses requests for medications. She/he supervises the work of pharmacy assistants and /or pharmacy students where applicable. The pharmacist is responsible for the medication safety of the patients, and the general safety of the personnel in the pharmacy department. Their work involves the control of expensive medications, supplies and equipment. Reasonable care is expected in the use and maintenance of all elements. The pharmacist has a diversified job, which requires alertness as well as the ability to handle a  heavy volume of work.   Attention  to  detail over extended  periods of time is often required. Must hold current license with the State Board of Pharmacy.  Hospital Experience preferred.

Phlebotomist - PRN

Phlebotomist will assist the Medical Technologist in phlebotomy on outpatients, inpatients, and ER patients.  Maintains supplies for use in the laboratory.  Experience preferred.

Radiology/CT Tech - PRN

The Radiology/CT Tech performs all radiology/CT procedures using digital imaging in addition to CT contrast studies. Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiology program, licensed by the Stat of Mississippi and American College of Radiology.  CPR Certification required.

Respiratory Therapist - PRN

The respiratory Therapist performs the standard procedures for Respiratory Therapy in administering medical gases to provide mechanical aids to ventilation.  Responsible for proper handling of departmental policies and procedures to ensure the best care possible for respiratory therapy needs of our patients.    Must be familiar with the various types of oxygen therapy, equipment, oxygen tents, suction machines, croup tents, EKG machine, etc.  Must hold current registration with the MS State Board of Licensure as a Respiratory Therapy Practitioner (RRT or CRTT).  Must hold current certification in CPR and ACLS.

Full time driver needed for Covington County Hospital Transport Services.  Driver must have excellent communication and customer service skills.  Must be able to lift 50 pounds or greater.  Must have clear driving record and current Mississippi Driver License, CDL or EMS certification required.  Driver will transport patients to and from scheduled appointments.
