George Gillespie, DO, is a family medicine board-certified physician specializing in emergency medicine serving Smith County Emergency Hospital, a division of Covington County Hospital. Dr. Gillespie’s experience includes six years in the emergency department at Magee General Hospital where he also served as Chief of Staff. Previously, he was a family medicine practitioner at Hattiesburg Clinic in Petal where he established the first urgent care center in the area.
Dr. Gillespie followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, Dr. Milton Person, who served as a physician in the Delta in Greenwood. He graduated from Kansas City University School of Medicine in 2004 and completed his residency at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo in 2007. He is licensed by the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians, the American Board of Family Medicine, and the Mississippi Medical Association.
He resides in Petal with his wife of 20 years, Miranda, and they have two children, Tristian and Caleigh. He enjoys spending time with family and maintaining health with regular workouts in the gym.
