Just in time for a New Year’s resolution of a healthy and fit lifestyle, Covington Fitness is now participating in the SilverSneakers® and the Silver&Fit® wellness programs. The public is invited to attend an Open House on Thursday, January 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to take a tour of the facility and ask questions about the programs, which are offered at no cost to seniors 65 and older who participate in eligible Medicare plans.
Physical therapists from Covington County Hospital will be on hand during the Open House to discuss issues of movement and activity recommended for those with illnesses such as neuropathy, hypertension, and diabetes and for those who may have heart issues related to stints and angioplasty.
Nutrition and dietary information on healthy eating choices will be offered by Covington County Hospital in collaboration with the University of Southern Mississippi School of Kinesiology and Nutrition.
Covington Fitness is a full-service gym on Highway 49 in the Taylor Place Shopping Center and is open 24 hours, 7 days a week, with staffed hours 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. The programs are designed for all levels and abilities and provide access to online classes, over 15,000 fitness locations, and health & wellness discounts at gyms throughout the U.S.
