Family Care Express-Collins Recieves Top Rural Health Clinic Recognition

Collins, MS, August 31, 2023 – Family Care Express-Collins, a Rural Health Clinic serving Covington, Jefferson Davis, and Simpson counties with primary and urgent care needs, has been recognized as one of the top rural primary care practices in the United States according to the 2023 Lilypad Awards, the first and only ranking program for our nation’s 5,000+ Rural Health Clinics. The Lilypad Awards recognize the Rural Health Clinics that outperform their rural primary care practice peers in terms of efficiency and operational excellence.

Santana Fulcher, the CCH Clinic Director, couldn’t contain her gratitude for the exceptional work of the staff at all Covington County Hospital clinics in providing top-notch healthcare for the community. It’s truly a moment of great pride that our very own Family Care Express has been recognized for this prestigious award two years in a row! The staff at Family Care Express is always ready to serve you, seven days a week, whether it’s a walk-in or appointment. Don’t miss out on the exceptional care they provide!

Utilizing data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid program to calculate rural-relevant metrics across five domains, the Lilypad Awards provide a comprehensive and objective assessment of rural health clinic performance. The Lilypad Awards evaluate provider-based (hospital-owned) and independent practices to produce a comprehensive ranking system for every Rural Health Clinic in the nation. The Top Five organizations in each of the five geographic regions have earned the 2023 Lilypad Award Top Clinic recognition.

Family Care Express, a clinic located in Collins, Mississippi, at the Taylor Place Shopping Center, was opened by Covington County Hospital on September 1, 2011, with an aim to provide efficient and convenient medical care with extended weekday and weekend hours.

Dr. Harpreet Sood and nurse practitioners Laura Davis and Anna Fails are dedicated to providing accessible care for all general health needs. The clinic provides walk-in services seven days a week, and appointments can be made for primary care, preventative medicine, annual exams, wellness visits, standard vaccination and immunizations, and other services.

Our providers offer a wide range of routine and preventive healthcare services, including annual physicals, laboratory testing such as blood and urine tests, vaccinations, screening and treatment for conditions such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or diabetes, care for minor symptoms like sore throat, cough, or nasal congestion, treatment for common illnesses such as colds, the flu, or urinary tract infections (UTIs), and treatments for injuries such as minor cuts or burns.

Children under 21 eligible for Medicaid benefits can receive free health checkups from Laura Davis, FNP, at Family Care Express as part of the Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment Program (EPSDT). Children entering a Mississippi school for the first time must have had the following vaccinations: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (DTap), Polio (IPV), Hepatitis B, Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR), and Chickenpox (Varicella). If your child is entering the seventh grade, they will require a pertussis (Tdap) booster if they have not received a Tdap vaccination since the age of seven.
